Blue Screen on Windows XP

This article describes the Blue Screen on Windows XP problem. Have you ever experienced working on a microsoft word document that you did not save and the blue screen error popped up. The screen freezes and the only way to get pass the blue screen error was to reboot your computer by pressing the reset button. This means that if the auto save function of your document was not activated, the document you spent time typing on is lost.

Blue Screen on Windows XP is usually caused by 3 things.

#1 A Corrupt Registry:

The registry contains detailed information about what's inside our computer. It contains information about the games, programs, drivers, sound card, printer, network router information. Everything is stored inside the registry. Over time, the registry will contain obsolete data, it may be programs installed in the past that are now deleted, or some software that we installed but just simply forgot about. Some background programs run unseen but are loaded on starting up the computer, and these unnecessary programs will cause CPU processing power that slow our computer down.

#2 Faulty Ram

If your computer goes into the blue screen mode when booting up, that's when its accessing data from the registry and the RAM, or Random Access Memory. Most computers now come with 512mg or 1G RAM. The more RAM we have, the faster programs will open and less waiting time. When the CPU calls instructions from faulty locations within the RAM, that's when the Blue Screen on Windows XP problem appears.

Blue Screen on Windows XP Solution:

Step 1:

If the Blue Screen appears intermittently, or randomly, then I will first get a registry cleaner to check for a corrupt registry and fix any errors. If the problem goes away after the scan and fix, great!

Step 2:

If the error persists, we need to open up the PC to check which stick of RAM is giving the error. Remove 1 piece of RAM, and see if the computer is working fine. This requires a little techy skill. For the non-tech incline, its far easier to just run a registry cleaner and check for errors, and if the blue screen goes away, we can avoid going into the hardware altogether.
